11/18/03
It had rained hard most of the day, but had let up about 1:00, so I decided to set in one of my south stands. At 4:00, the rain had started up again, making me call it a day. I lowered my bow and day pack to the ground and was about to desend myself. When I caught movement about 200 yards to the north. A quick look through my binoculars, and I could see a coyote was moving in my direction, but stopped about175 yards away from me, and turned two circles and laid down. The wind was right, so I decided to have a little fun before leaving. I desended to the ground, retrieved my bow and nocked an arrow. I began to stalk slowly toward the coyote. With the rain coming down and the ground throughly wet, being quiet was easy. I moved within 20 yards of the bedding coyote. I settled the 20 yard pin on his neck  and released. The arrow entered his neck and ran the length of his body.
BY BOW
I have shot coyotes before with a bow, but this was the first one I had stalked.
