| Illinois first shotgun season was seasonable warm. I was in Alabama and Georgia during this season and was unable to hunt. Thursday and Friday of the second season was rainy. All I saw was does and two small bucks. Saturday morning had clear skies, although it was frosty. By first light I was in my stand. Around 7:00 five does came out into the field and began to feed. South of me about 80 yards I began to hear sounds, of what resembled A deer moving. To my excitment it was a large buck moving toward the does. This would also bring him past me. As the buck approached I watched anxiously. At ten yards away he stopped broad side of me. With one shot, he dropped in his tracks. What a great day to be in the woods. |
