It was sunday morning, just after the first week of shotgun season.  Eager to start my hunt I awoke long before the dawn.  Making the necessary preparations.  I was on my way.
The rain had started somtime early in the morning, making for a cool start. After climbing into my stand and sitting a short while, I decided to move to another stand.  Traveling a small distance,  I again made my climb upward.  Taking a comfortable seat about twenty feet above ground. I began to wait.  The time was now 9:00 a.m.
A hour  wait into my hunt I could hear voices in the distance   Maybe it ws bird hunters.  The calls began to get louder.  Apparently, I was not the only creature paying attention.  A large buck began making his way through the timber.  Heading in my direction, the excitement began.
As the buck approached at a fast trot, he began to head to the open field.  Just where I wanted him.  While still at a fast walk and angled away from me, I took the shot.  Placing the arrow alittle far back.  Do to the angle it done the job.  He traveled a short distance where I claimed my trophy.
